Our histroty

The Centre was established on 19 May 2011 as Volga International Cleaner Production Centre, but later on, as its scale of operation and scope of activities grew, it was renamed into National Cleaner Production Centre — Russia in February 2015.

In January 2013, NCPC-Russia joined RECPnet — the Global Network for Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production. Created under the auspices of UNIDO and UNEP, the network unites organizations that offer resource efficient and cleaner production services and are committed to cooperating beyond an exclusive economic motive.

As of 14 July 2016, NCPC-Russia is also a registered member of Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), which promotes accelerated transfer of environmentally sound technologies and offers technology solutions, capacity building and policy advice tailored to the needs of individual countries.

Among its activities in the past 5 years, NCPC-Russia has successfully carried out projects in relation to chemical leasing (assessing CHL potential and adapting CHL business model in the Russian Federation) within the framework of UNIDO project; conducted identification, evaluation and prioritization of pollution hot-spots in the Volga river basin (as part of UNIDO TEST (Transfer of Environmentally Sound Technologies) project); supported industrial enterprises in energy management system implementation by the UNIDO methodology (ISO 50001); organized various energy systems assessments and energy system optimization trainings.
